These are the terms for using Alpha Password. They are written to be read. Where a sentence is in capitals, the law asks for it to stand out.
Last updated 11 October 2026.
Alpha Password is run by Alpha Zulu LLC, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110, United States (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the apps, the browser vault or the browser extension (together, “the service”), you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to an online service. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. One person may hold more than one account.
Your vault is encrypted on your device with a key made from your master password. We never receive that password, and we hold no copy of the key.
WE CANNOT READ, RESET OR RECOVER YOUR MASTER PASSWORD OR YOUR VAULT. IF YOU LOSE BOTH YOUR MASTER PASSWORD AND YOUR RECOVERY KEY, AND NO SIGNED-IN DEVICE OR EMERGENCY CONTACT CAN LET YOU BACK IN, YOUR VAULT IS GONE FOR GOOD. NOBODY, INCLUDING US, CAN RESTORE IT.
You are responsible for keeping your master password, your recovery key and your devices safe, and for everything done with your account. Tell us at support@alphapassword.app if you think someone else has got in. Keep your own export of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Found a security problem? Tell us at support@alphapassword.app before telling anyone else. Good-faith research that stays inside your own accounts, does not touch other people’s data and does not degrade the service is welcome, and we will not take action against it.
What you put in your vault is yours. We claim no rights over it, and we could not read it to use it if we wanted to. You let us store, copy and send its encrypted form only as far as running the service needs.
The apps, the website, the name Alpha Password and its icon belong to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the apps for as long as you use the service. Parts of the apps are open-source software under their own licences; these terms do not limit or extend what those licences allow. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
When you share an item, it is decrypted on the other person’s device. You decide who gets it, and you are responsible for that choice. Taking access away stops future access; it cannot take back what they have already seen. Change the password on the site if that matters.
Emergency access waits the number of days you chose before it opens. That wait is enforced by our server, not by the cryptography. We keep it, but you should choose an emergency contact you would trust without it.
The vault, passkeys, sharing and emergency access are free. Alpha Password Pro adds the authenticator, file attachments, Checkup and hidden folders. Pro is not on sale yet; until it is, everything works for everyone. When it goes on sale, this applies:
The phone, watch, desktop and browser-extension apps are not yet in the stores. Early versions, test builds and anything we call a preview are provided as they are. They may change or stop without notice, and may have faults the finished versions will not.
You may point the apps at a server you run yourself. Your vault then lives on that server, not ours, and these terms do not cover it. We give no warranty or support for a server we do not run, and the person who runs it is responsible for it.
Some features rely on other companies, for example Apple and Google for purchases and notifications, and Have I Been Pwned when you choose to check your passwords against known breaches. Their own terms apply to what they do. The privacy policy lists each one and what it receives.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, in any of the apps. Deleting erases your vault from our servers, with no undo. Export first if you want a copy.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Unless the law or the risk to others stops us, we will tell you first and give you time to export your vault. We may remove an account whose email address was never confirmed. We do not delete accounts for being inactive; if that ever changes, we will email you at least 30 days before anything is deleted.
If we ever stop running the service, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice so you can export your vault.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. AS FAR AS THE LAW ALLOWS, WE GIVE NO WARRANTIES BEYOND THOSE IN THESE TERMS, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE OR FREE OF ERRORS.
AS FAR AS THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$100 OR WHAT YOU PAID US FOR PRO IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
None of this limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, you keep every right the law where you live gives you, and nothing here takes those away.
If you break these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim. This does not apply to consumers where the law does not allow it.
We will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before a change that matters takes effect. Small fixes, such as wording or a new company we work with, may take effect when posted, and the date at the top changes with them. If you do not agree with a change, you can export your vault and delete your account before it applies.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before going to court, please email us and give us 30 days to put things right. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, unless the law where you live gives you, as a consumer, the right to bring it in your own courts.
The apps contain strong encryption. You may not use or export them where United States export or sanctions law forbids it, or if you are on a United States list of restricted persons.
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given it up. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over the service, and will tell you if we do. You may not transfer them without our agreement. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
